Residents of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city and its environs, will be experiencing six hours, 30 minutes of blackout, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 20, Ndidi Mbah, the spokesperson for the company, said TCN would be carrying out a maintenance schedule on its transmission substation situated in Lokoja, Kogi state.
According to Mbah, the maintenance is scheduled to take place between 10.30 am and 5 pm on May 20.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) notifies the public that a planned maintenance exercise has been scheduled at its Lokoja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation today, May 20, 2025, from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm,” Mbah said.
She also noted that the transmission company would carry out maintenance on a 60MVA 132/33kV transformer and a 150MVA 330/132/33kV transformer in the substation.
Mbah said that during this period, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would not be able to take off and distribute electricity to its consumers.
“Within that period, their customers in Kaduna Junction, Kogi Poly, Zango Town, CBN, and Lokoja Town will not be supplied electricity,” Mbah said while apologising to the general public on behalf of the company.
