Abia govt postpones Tinubu’s visit, major road commissioning

The Abia State government has announced the postponement of the commissioning of the popular Port Harcourt Road in Aba.

The commissioner for Information in Abia State, Okey Kanu, said that the project commissioning by the president has been rescheduled for a later date.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Kanu simply said the exercise has been put off.

“I am sure some of you may have been hearing about it through the grapevine, so this is like a formal announcement that that exercise has been put off.

“I recall that Mr. President, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu was to be on hand to flag off that project, but due to his schedule at this time, he elected to come to the state sometime in early June to flag off the project,” Kanu stated.

Recall that President Tinubu was billed to visit Abia state before May 29, his second anniversary in office as president.

In a previous statement, the state government had said that the president would be in the state to commission the road, which was rehabilitated by Governor Alex Otto after it was abandoned by previous administrations for over three decades.
