Insecurity: We’ve doubled troops’ allowances from N1,500 to N3,000 – Minister boasts

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru has said that the Nigerian government is making giant strides in the effort to end terrorism, banditry and kidnapping across the country.

Badaru said this while speaking in an interview for a State House Documentary to commemorate President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.

He said that the government and the military have recorded unprecedented successes in the fight against insurgency.

Stating that President Tinubu’s administration is committed to the welfare of soldiers and all military personnel, Badaru said N18 billion has been approved by the president to clear all outstanding insurance arrears for personnel.

“We’ve doubled troop ration allowances from N1,500 to N3,000,” Badaru said.

“Life insurance now covers all soldiers, and I’ve personally visited frontline bases to listen to their concerns and boost morale,” the minister said.

The minister also stated that the president had issued a strong strategic directive to key stakeholders on the need to end insecurity by the close of the year.
