Edo: We will reclaim our mandate – PDP, holds stakeholders’ meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oredo Local Government Area has reaffirmed its determination to overturn what it calls a “stolen mandate” from the 2024 Edo State governorship election.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ rally on Monday, party leaders and grassroots members gathered in large numbers at the Oredo PDP secretariat in Benin to demonstrate unity and resolve.

Oredo PDP Chairman Henschel Usiobafo opened the meeting by commending members for their loyalty and steadfastness through what he described as a challenging post-election period. “Your unwavering support across all twelve wards is the bedrock of our strength,” Usiobafo told the crowd.

He singled out Hon. Uyi Frank Omosigho and the PDP councilors of Oredo East for standing firm amid alleged harassment from the ruling party.

Dr. Tom Obaseki, the elected Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, described Oredo as the “heartbeat of Edo politics,” noting that the area delivered the highest vote tally for the PDP in last year’s polls. “What happened at the tribunal was a judgment, not justice,” he said, insisting that true justice “reflects the will of the people, as demonstrated at the polls.”Obaseki added,

“We remain confident that our victory will be restored through a fair and just process.”

Also addressing the gathering, Idehen Ebomoyi, member of the PDP South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee, praised Oredo PDP’s resilience as “the most consistent and inspiring chapter in the South-South region.”

Ebomoyi delivered goodwill messages from party leaders Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie, acknowledging their awareness of and support for the ongoing efforts in Oredo.

He also thanked PDP Board of Trustees member, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, for his continued strategic guidance.

Reaffirming the party’s resolve, Ebomoyi stated, “The PDP remains a grounded political force, committed to reclaiming its mandate and defending democratic ideals in Edo.
