President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remember the vulnerable ones among them and reach out to them during this year’s Eid-al-Adha celebration.
The president made this appeal on Friday, June 6, while observing the Eid-al-Adha celebration.
Speaking to some journalists after observing the Eid prayers, the president said, the Eid celebration signifies sacrifices made for peace, unity and progress.
“As we make sacrifices, we should remember to pray and give to those who are vulnerable, we must come together to be one another’s and brothers’ keeper and love everyone equally,” President Tinubu said.
In addition, he urged Nigerians to also remember the troops of the Nigerian Military who are on the battle fronts.
He noted that these troops are committed to the sacrifices they are making to keep Nigeria and her people safe.
His words, “We must pray hard for our troops, who are keeping us safe, making the sacrifices in the challenges that we face on terrorism and banditry today.
“We must pray for them specifically and we must remember their sacrifices and continue to be of good behaviour,” Tinubu added.
Muslims across the globe are celebrating the Eid-al-Adha in line with the tenets of the Prophet Muhammad.
This celebration comes barely days after the sighting of the moon across different locations including Saudi Arabia.
Several leaders of the world and Nigeria including Atiku Abubakar, Siminalayi Fubara, Vice President Kashim Shettima alongside others have celebrated with Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-al-Adha.
The leaders in their various Eid messages called for peace and unity that could project the country into its desired development path.
Citizens were also urged to remain faithful and committed to loving and caring for one another, especially during this season.
In addition, they were urged to ensure that they share gifts and items – mostly food items – with the vulnerable ones among them.
