President Bola Ahmed Tinubu monitored from his Lagos residence as Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the early hours of Friday, June 6, 2025.
The defection ceremony, held at the Akwa Ibom State Government House in Uyo, was attended by key APC stakeholders, including Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), and Monday Okpebholo (Edo), alongside Mrs. Ekaete Unoma Akpabio, wife of the Senate President.
“After completing the rounds of my consultation as your servant whom you have elected to serve, I have therefore decided to progressively move to the APC,” Governor Eno, in his announcement, said.
Governor Eno’s move is expected to trigger a mass exodus of PDP officials in the state. Already, 31 local government chairmen, lawmakers, and most commissioners are preparing to follow suit.
However, not all appointees agreed to the transition. Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Sea Port, Dr. Ini Ememobong, resigned from his post, citing his refusal to join the APC based on personal convictions.
Majority of Nigeria politicians are very shameless. Men without integrity. This is one of the reason why Nigeria as a country will continue to wallow in abject poverty, because our so called leaders are bereaved of ideas. They were just after their selfish political interest.

He’s a good governor, he knows it’s the only way to complete what he promised his people without fighting because the Senate president and his cabal even knowing he’s good and loved by his people, they will want him replaced and he has said it before that he doesn’t have wike strength to play anti-party and PDP is so disorganized right now so there is no way they will be able to deliver him because come 2027 the APC will make sure votes doesn’t count as always but this time it’s no small joke.
Let us support him APC or not doesn’t change what he has to do in Akwa Ibom.
Akpabio and him are calaborating to make sure there’s federal presence in the state not wike fighting to control money of the state while akpabio is making sure things are done in the state. South South development headquarter done and dusted more to follow. If it was possible NDDC headquarter would have been moved to Akwa Ibom. Very soon everybody all road to Akwa Ibom after Lagos while rivers keep fighting

I don’t really understand what’s happening in this country. Politicians keep switching from one party to another out of selfishness.
People who were in PDP and other parties are now moving to APC, and if APC loses, those same people will move to the winning party just to corrupt it. This is one of the main reasons Nigeria is facing so many challenges. May God help us.
Gov. Eno already has someone at the helm of affairs in Nigeria, so his move to join his big brother shouldn’t be considered an unwise decision. Go to where you are protected the most. I support my Governor, he is a wise man.
