The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has replied the Nigerian Governors’ Forum over its criticisms of the controversial infectious diseases bill.
Gbajabiamila, in a statement on Monday, stated that there was a ‘miscommunication’ between the House and the governors’ forum on the matter. He also revealed that he has spoken with the chairman of the forum, Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi.
“I spoke with the Chairman NGF Gov Kayode Fayemi. From our discussion, it appears there was some miscommunication between the NGF and the House.”
“I believe Gov Fayemi’s narrative as I have known him for many years and will convey same to my colleagues. The House and the Governors irrespective of party affiliation have always and will continue to work in the best interest of our country.”
“We remain committed to the Joint Task of nation-building and we will also work on the Control of Infectious diseases Bill together to produce a Bill satisfactory to all.” he stated.
