REVEALED: The Main Reason an Army Colonel Planned a Coup Against Tinubu

New findings have uncovered why a serving Army Colonel allegedly planned a coup against President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Investigators say the officer acted out of deep frustration after repeatedly failing promotion examinations.
Security reports indicate that the setbacks affected his morale and sense of belonging within the military.
Over time, his personal disappointment reportedly turned into hostility toward the current administration.
Instead of handling his grievances internally, the Colonel is accused of building a secret network of officers across the Army, Navy and Air Force.
The group allegedly shared dissatisfaction and used it as a bond to recruit new members.
What began as complaints soon developed into organised planning.
The suspects were said to have studied major national security locations.
These included the Presidential Villa, Niger Barracks, the Armed Forces Complex and international airports in Abuja and Lagos.
They reportedly gathered information on movement patterns, entry points and daily routines.
During a search of the Colonel’s vehicle, security operatives found charms and documents described as hostile to the government.
A raid on his residence in Lokogoma, Abuja, uncovered papers assigning roles to different members of the group.
The documents also outlined how senior government officials would be handled if the plan succeeded.
Investigators believe the plotters used insider access to obtain security details.
Some workers connected to construction activities around the Presidential Villa were allegedly compromised.
Encrypted messaging platforms were used for communication and coordination.
Financial records further raised suspicion.
Some members reportedly received between ₦2 million and ₦5 million as mobilisation funds.
The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit is now tracing the flow of the money and identifying possible sponsors.
One of the key suspects, Lt-Col S. Bappah, reportedly cooperated with investigators.
He is said to have provided details on recruitment, funding and communication methods used by the group.
Security officials described the conspiracy as dangerous because it cut across all three arms of the Armed Forces.
Officers up to the rank of Brigadier-General were allegedly involved.
The operation was believed to be scheduled for October 25, 2025.
The President, Vice President Kashim Shettima, ministers and service chiefs were reportedly listed as primary targets.
Authorities moved in before the plan could advance beyond preparation stage.
Beyond military personnel, investigators are now examining possible civilian and political links.
Phone records, financial trails and external contacts are under review.
Officials say the aim is to dismantle every layer of the network and prevent future threats.
The Defence Headquarters has confirmed that all indicted officers will face military judicial panels.
Security agencies insist that firm action is necessary to protect Nigeria’s constitutional order.
Recall that in October 2025, Politics Nigeria reported rumours of a coup attempt circulated widely on social media.
At the time, the Defence Headquarters dismissed the claims as “false and misleading,” despite the sudden cancellation of the Independence Day parade which raised public concern.
