The suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday met with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule.
Fubara, sources said met with Amaewhule who was suspended alongside the governor and all the elected officers of the state by President Bola Tinubu.
It was gathered that the governor met with the Speaker and other lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The meeting, Politics Nigeria gathered ended with both parties exchanging handshakes and pleasantries.
Their first reconciliatory meeting since the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, the parties met in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
They were also said to have shared jokes and laughter at the meeting.
The Nation reports that a source said the meeting between the suspended governor and the lawmakers was fruitful.
It is also expected that a more robust engagement between all aggrieved parties in the political crisis rocking the state will take place in no time.
“The suspended Governor is determined to make peace. He has started the real engagement,” a source said.
