Following the reconciliation meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Thursday publicly affirmed their commitment to peace in Rivers State.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Wike declared an end to the political rift that has unsettled the state in recent months.
“We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor has agreed to work with all of us. For me, everything is over,” Wike said.
Governor Fubara also expressed optimism about the new peace efforts.
“Peace has returned to Rivers State. We will do everything in our power to make sure we sustain it this time around,” he told reporters.
The meeting, convened by President Tinubu, brought together key stakeholders from Rivers State, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and several lawmakers.
