The Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, has advised private organisations to limit office staff to 32-50 percent of the total workforce.
“We also expect offices in general to limit their staff numbers for those that are within offices to not more than 32 – 50% of the total workforce,” Mr Aliyu said while giving the guidelines on the current phase of the lockdown.
He spoke at the national daily briefing of the PTF aired on Channels TV which was monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA. This paper, on Monday, reported how President Muhammadu Buhari extended the gradual easing of the lockdown in the FCT, Lagos and Ogun States by two weeks. Also, the total lockdown of Kano state was extended bt two weeks.
“We’re now going into a two-week extension of the gradual easing of the lockdown. The purpose of the extension is to provide the public with a window of opportunity to start adjusting to start preparing for the new life with COVID-19 infection.”
He restated that the infection is going to be in Nigeria for a little longer. “We also extended the conditions for the gradual easing to prepare and make sure that we continue to slow down the pandemic so that we do not have a rebound.”
Mr Aliyu, while reading the safety advisories, said the existing easing of the lockdown remains largely the same for the two-week extension, in particular, Interstate travels.
“Except for essential travels and transport of essential Services remain restricted the ban on passenger flights is will remain in place. Religious places, schools, clubs, bars, parks, sporting and gaming centres remain closed.”
“We must continue to maintain a physical distance of two meters at all times. Mass Gatherings of more than 20 people outside the workplace remains restricted. Government offices remain open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for government staff of grade levels 14 to 17.”
“We also expect offices in general to limit their staff numbers for those that are within offices to not more than 32. 50% of the total workforce.”
“In terms of other measures, the main changes are with enforcement. We will continue to work very closely with the security services and in particular, we will continue to encourage local authorities to make use of mobile codes for immediate prosecution of offenders.”
“Offices shopping complexes and Banks must start providing temperature checks and hand sanitizers at the entrances,” He advised.
