The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti has debunked claims that he is part of the 2027 opposition coalition team focused on ousting President Bola Tinubu from office.
In a video seen by Politics Nigeria, Otti was captured stating that he remains a member of the Labour Party.
The governor and other leaders of the Labour Party have been in a political battle concerning some key issues within the party.
Otti said, “He has a right to dream. I also have a right to state that I am still a member of the Labour Party and I am not looking for where to decamp to.
“The second point is about coalition and a lot of people have been asking, “Oh! Are you a member of the coalition?”
“And the response is, have you seen my name? Have you seen me attend any coalition meeting? I’ve not,” the governor said.
However, a strong ally of Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Otti said everyone has a dream.
Obi has been pencilled in as one of the politicians championing a coalition that could remove the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration from power.
To this, Otti said he has yet to receive any form of invitation from anyone to join the coalition movement.
“So, we’re just busy doing the work that Abia people have given us. So, we’re not attending any coalition meetings, and I’ve not attended one. Nobody has invited me.
“I know some members of the camps have also asked just for information and my response is that I have not attended any and nobody has invited me,” the governor added.
