Some gunmen have killed one person during an attack on the country home of a former minister of sport, Damishi Sango.
The gunmen were also said to have injured three other people in the attack at Sango’s home in Dalwal village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It was gathered that the attackers invaded Sango’s home in the early hours of Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Sources said that victims of the attack include a female relative of the former minister who was killed during the incident.
Also injured during the attack is one of the minister’s police escorts.
“The bandits attacked the residence of Chief Damishi Sango in Dalwal village around 1 a.m. this morning, but we heard they started attacking the community from about 11 p.m. on Wednesday night,” a source said.
According to the source, the attackers started shooting sporadically upon invading the former minister’s home.
He said, “During the assault, one of his female relations was killed, while three other people, including his police orderly, Inspector Walba Go Tom, from the Special Protection Unit Base 4, Makurdi, attached to the former minister, sustained gunshot wounds.
“His service rifle, an assault weapon with a breach number, was taken away by the attackers,” the source added.
The source also noted that those injured during the attack are currently receiving medical treatment at the Plateau Specialist Hospital in Jos.
In addition, the injured police officer is already responding to treatment at the facility where he was hospitalised.
