Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against promoting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Momodu gave the advice to President Tinubu during an interview with Channels Television on Monday, July 7.
He described Wike, a former governor of Rivers State as a character that no one should promote.
The publisher added that the president should be wary of Wike irrespective of whatever he (Tinubu) believes he can gain from the minister ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“My appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that no matter what you are expecting to gain from Wike in 2027, Wike is not the kind of character you should promote; he is not the kind of young man who should hijack our common patrimony,” Momodu stated.
He also accused Wike of inducing delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with huge amount of foreign currencies ahead of the 2027 party primaries.
According to Momodu, Wike paid $30,000 to each PDP delegate during the presidential primaries.
Recall that Momodu, a presidential aspirant contested for the 2023 PDP presidential ticket alongside, Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and Nyesom Wike.
“A former president of Nigeria sent someone to tell me not to waste my money on the PDP 2022 primaries because Wike had raised the stakes to $30k per delegate; $30k multiplied by 774 delegates.
“What I expected of him was that if you weren’t going to support a man, if you’re going to run, run a fair race, and let’s leave it there,” he said.
