‘It’s a merger, not an acquisition’, Gov Eno says as he receives APC structure in Akwa Ibom

The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno on Saturday received the political structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The presentation was made to the governor by the Senate President and a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement issued on X, Eno said the presentation of the APC’s political structure to him shortly after decamping from the Peoples Democratic Party is an emotional one for him.

Describing the moment as symbolic, the governor said this is more of a merger between parties in the state than an acquisition.

He wrote on X, “I officially received the political structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State from our Senate President, His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio. It was an emotional and symbolic moment at the APC Stakeholders Meeting held at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo.

“I made it clear that this is not an acquisition, it is a merger, and it must be approached with love, unity, and understanding,” Eno said.

He further stated that leaders must be ready to make sacrifices for the people whom they have been elected to govern.

His words, “We all must make sacrifices for the greater good of Akwa Ibom. I’ve urged our party leaders, from the wards up, to open their arms and hearts to welcome this move. Let’s build a stronger, united APC together.

“I’m here to work with everyone, grow the party, and support the vision of our leaders. My mission remains the same: peace, progress, and prosperity for our people under the ARISE Agenda. Let’s move forward together. God bless Akwa Ibom State,” Eno added.
