BREAKING: Governor Adeleke Meets PDP Leadership Amid Rumoured Defection Plans

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has held a meeting with the leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, amid growing speculation that he may be considering defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The consultation, which took place on Saturday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, brought together key stakeholders from across all arms of the party and government.

The meeting culminated in a declaration of loyalty to the Governor, with the caucus pledging to stand by him regardless of his next political move.

In a statement issued by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson for the Governor, the PDP caucus “passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ademola Adeleke, unanimously supporting any decision the Governor takes on the growing rumour of defection to another political party.”

“The leaders who praised the Governor’s leadership and performance in office mandated him to continue consultations with all stakeholders locally and nationally,” the statement added.

According to Rasheed, the meeting featured comprehensive discussions and contributions from leaders representing the National Assembly caucus, the State House of Assembly caucus, the State Executive Council, the PDP state executive, the Special Advisers’ Forum, the elders caucus, and the state chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).

Governor Adeleke, who addressed the gathering, reportedly provided a briefing on the current political climate and his ongoing consultations. Following his remarks, the caucus issued a communique affirming their commitment to follow his political lead.

“In the communique, the PDP state leadership resolved to follow Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke wherever he goes,” the statement declared. “The meeting, however, recognized that the Governor is still consulting on next lines of action.”
