There is currently a heavy presence of security operatives in Katsina State in preparation for the funeral of Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari.
Politics Nigeria gathered that the road leading to Daura, the late Buhari’s hometown is currently littered with operatives of the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Army.
The operatives have been deployed to the state and stationed at strategic positions to ensure increased security and orderliness ahead of the late former president’s burial.
It is also expected that several leaders and politicians including Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu will be arriving in Daura to pay their last respects to the late Buhari.
In addition, the Emir’s palace was also filled with mourners who visited the town in honour of the late former president.
Streets of Katsina were also deserted barely hours after the state governor Dikko Radda declared Monday a public holiday.
Some students who were not aware of the public holiday were found returning home around areas like Modoji, Kwado, Kofar Kaura, Kofar Kwaya and Kambarawa.
Buhari’s body is scheduled to leave London on Tuesday morning at about 6am and arrive in Nigeria at about noon.
The funeral, aides to the late former president said, will take place at about 2 pm in Daura.
