2027: Leave presidential ticket open to all geo-political zones – Group tells ADC

The South-South Emerging Leaders’ Forum has appealed to the coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to throw its 2027 presidential ticket open to all the geo-political zones.

The forum urged the national chairman of the party, David Mark to ensure that the ticket is not zoned to any particular region.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, the president of the forum, Benjamin Kolowei faulted the request by Peter Obi for the party to zone its ticket to the South.

Kolowei urged the party to be more democratic by allowing all zones to participate in its primaries.

He said zoning the party’s 2027 presidential ticket to a particular region would split ADC’s aim of rescuing the nation.

“We are appealing that the ADC national leadership should ensure a credible and transparent primary election that will produce an acceptable candidate. Whoever wins the primary should be supported by all.”

“If it is Peter Obi, if he still remains in the Coalition, he should not be denied the massive support.

“Why is Peter Obi afraid of an open and transparent primary election? Why is he looking for a free presidential ticket? He did that as a governor and as recently as 2023, Mr. Obi abandoned PDP when it was time for the primary election,” Kolowei said.

He further urged the former governor of Anambra State to ensure that he does not frustrate the plans to rescue Nigeria from the All Progressives Congress-led administration.
