Gambian president visits Tinubu after paying condolence visit to Buhari’s family (VIDEO)

President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, on Friday visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after paying a condolence visit to the family of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who recently passed away.

Speaking to journalists after the visit, Barrow described the late Buhari as a “friend, brother, and father figure,” praising his humility and leadership qualities.

“I came to extend my condolences to him and to the family of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari,” Barrow said. “Buhari was our colleague. He was a friend and he was a brother. He was a father figure to us and he was a very humble president—a great man, a great president, a great leader. His humbleness is something we should all emulate. If we emulate him, I believe it will move Africa to the next level.”

The Gambian leader recalled Buhari’s role in supporting democracy in The Gambia, noting that the former Nigerian president contributed to his rise to power and the respect of the Gambian people’s mandate.

“He contributed to make sure that the voice of the Gambian people is respected. He contributed to consolidate democracy in our country. Because of this reason, I cannot be ungrateful,” Barrow stated.

He added that Buhari’s legacy would be remembered for its positive impact on the continent.

“We will remember him. He will not be forgotten because he has a legacy—a good legacy,” he said.
