BREAKING: FG withdraws criminal complaint against Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson

The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has announced the withdrawal of the criminal complaint against Ms. Comfort Emmanson related to her unruly behaviour on an Ibom Airline flight on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

In a press statement issued today, Keyamo said consultations with key stakeholders in the aviation sector and those involved in the recent airport incidents informed the decision.

He noted that the episodes have raised public awareness about appropriate conduct in the aviation space and highlighted gaps in airport security protocols.

Keyamo stressed that evidence shows both passengers and airline staff were at fault in the incidents, and all parties must acknowledge their share of responsibility.

Following appeals from well-meaning individuals and the remorse shown by Ms. Emmanson, Keyamo confirmed the withdrawal of the complaint.

“When the Police took her statement in the presence of her lawyer, she exhibited great remorse for her conduct,” he said.

He added that the Police and Airport Command will facilitate her release from Kirikiri Prisons within the week.

Keyamo also confirmed that the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) have agreed to lift the lifetime flying ban previously imposed on her, with details to be released publicly by the AON.

  1. It’s okay !

We should not always rigidly cling to this issue of the law says this, the law said that or the constitution says this, the constitution says that even when national interest is at stake. Those who made the law and constitution were not saints or Angels.

If the Almighty God whom almost all of us claim to know had clinged rigidly to His laws then all of us including the so called men of God, would be languishing in life imprisonment here on earth. The federal government has to forgive and caution KWAM1 and Miss Emmanson.
For politicians who play politics with it as they see the it as avenue to unseat the president, it is understood.
Those who use the social media to throw up all sort of rubbish, should also know that some of these animalistic tendencies is inherent in all human beings and could betray anyone anytime. What if KWAM1 or Emanson were to be their relatives, would they hit the social media to say some of these balderdash? Some of these critics
and so called feminists have failed in almost everything including marriages and public conducts. What do they know about the law? Is the current Aviation Minister not one of the best lawyers Nigeria can boast of as we speak?
