BREAKING: Suspected child kidnapper beaten to death at Ilorin market (VIDEO)

A female suspect alleged to be a child kidnapper was beaten to death by an angry mob at the popular Ipata Market in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday morning.

Eyewitnesses stated that the woman was apprehended after she was accused of attempting to abduct a child.

Items reportedly found on her included four ATM cards and some documents.

The incident has heightened tension in the area, coming barely three months after a man narrowly escaped being lynched in Ilorin over a similar allegation.

On that occasion, police intervened and rescued the suspect from the mob.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command had yet to release an official statement on Thursday’s development.

In May 2015, the command confirmed the arrest of another suspect accused of child abduction in Ilorin.

The suspect, said to be from Osun State, was rescued by security operatives after being attacked by an angry crowd. He was later taken into custody.
