
A total of 27 families of fallen officers of the Nigeria Police Force have received a cheque of N52 million from the Kogi State Police Command.
The cheques were presented to the families of the officers who died in active service under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Scheme.
Superintendent of Police William Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi Police Command said the gesture was made to these families in line with the IGP’s unwavering commitment to improve the welfare of the families of officers who died in active service.
Aya said that Miller G. Dantawaye, the commissioner of police in Kogi made the presentations to the deceased families.
The CP, the statement said, was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, DCP Baba Alhaji in Lokoja on Thursday.
“The total sum of N52,885,344.83 (Fifty-Two Million, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Forty-Four Naira, Eighty-Three Kobo) was disbursed to 27 families of fallen heroes of the command,” Aya said.
According to Aya, the CP also urged the beneficiaries to ensure they make good use of the dunes to support the upkeep and future of their households.
Expressing their appreciation, the beneficiaries commended the IGP and the CP for the financial support.
They also stated that the money would go a long way in cushioning the effect of the loss of their loved ones.
