
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday declared a three-day mourning period in honour of its late pioneer Chairman, Solomon Aguele.
The declaration was made by the Caretaker Committee of the Edo State chapter of the PDP.
In a statement released by the committee chairman, Tony Aziegbemi the party said the mourning period will commence on Thursday, August 21.
According to Aziegbemi, all political activities within the party is thereby suspended until the end of the mourning period.
He also announced that a condolence register has been opened on behalf of the late chairman at the PDP Secretariat in Benin City.
Aziegbemi urged members and the public at large to use the opportunity to pay their last respects to the late PDP leader.
“The Edo PDP family remains united in honouring the legacy of Chief Solomon Aguele, whose leadership and contributions to the growth of our party will never be forgotten,” Aziegbemi said.
