Every Nigerian Should Learn Self-Defence – Chief of Defence Staff Musa

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has urged Nigerians to acquire self-defence skills as part of their survival toolkit in today’s security climate.

General Musa said self-defence should be regarded as a basic skill like driving or swimming, and that Nigerians must be ready to protect themselves when faced with danger.

He advised an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.

He noted that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) should play a greater role in equipping graduates with unarmed combat skills and basic security awareness, describing it as crucial for everyday survival.

“It is important that every Nigerian is given security awareness at whatever level. Self-defence, unarmed combat, swimming, driving, these are critical for human survival. The world we live in is dangerous, and we must be prepared,” he said.

The Defence Chief added that security should not be left solely to the military and security agencies.

He also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant at all times.
