BREAKING: Head of Palestinian Community in Nigeria, Ramzy Abu Ibrahim arrested in Abuja [PIC]

The Head of the Palestinian Community in Nigeria, Ramzy Abu Ibrahim, has been arrested in Abuja by operatives of the Anti-Terrorism Squad, POLITICS NIGERIA has gathered.

Relatives confirmed that Ibrahim, who has lived in Nigeria for more than three decades, was taken from his residence in the Federal Capital Territory last Friday.

A family source, speaking , recounted how the arrest unfolded:

“He was arrested on Friday by the security operatives. They identified themselves as the Anti-Terrorism squad. This man is not a stranger in Nigeria. He has been here for over 35 years, and he went to school in this country. As we speak, we (the family) don’t know where he is, and we don’t know which station he is being detained.”

“The only reason we might link to his arrest was his recent advocacy on the growing attacks on journalists and other vulnerable people in Gaza.”

Advocacy and Activism

Ibrahim has been vocal in recent weeks, stepping up campaigns and public commentary over the rising number of journalists killed in Gaza amid Israeli airstrikes. His family believes that his outspoken advocacy may be linked to his detention.

When contacted for clarification, an official at the Palestinian Embassy in Nigeria confirmed that the mission was aware of the development but had not yet received formal details.

“Yes, we heard about it and we are still trying to process the information,” the official told newsmen.

Silence From Security Agencies

As of Monday evening, Nigerian security agencies had not issued any statement on the reasons for the arrest, nor have they disclosed Ibrahim’s location. His family and community members say they remain in the dark about his fate.
