Garba Shehu, a former aide to the late ex-president Muhammadu Buhari has given insight into why his principal was “hated” by Olusegun Obasanjo.
Reacting to a recent remark by ex-president Obasanjo over Buhari’s administration, Shehu said the former never liked his boss.
Also referring to his book, ‘According to the President: Lessons from a Presidential Spokesman’s Experience’, Shehu, however said Buhari held Obasanjo in high esteem.
He said the duo fell out of respect and admiration for each other over an unmeng demand.
According to Shehu, Obasanjo had made some demands of Buhari during his tenure as president in the Mambilla Power Project.
In the book, he said, “There are many around Buhari who hold that the spectacular falling out between him (Buhari) and his superior in the military whom he cherished and much respected, President Olusegun Obasanjo, was on account of the demand, reportedly put to him by Obasanjo, that the contract for the Mambilla Power Project be given to a contractor he preferred.
‘‘On this, Buhari politely told the former president to allow him to handle it his own way, following the due process that was in place.”
