
Train operations on the Abuja- Kaduna route has been suspended by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).
The suspension on operations on this particular route follows the derailment of the train travelling Kaduna from Abuja on Tuesday, August 26.
Speaking at a press briefing, Kayode Opeifa, the managing director of the NRC said alltrain operations on the Abuja-Kaduna route has been suspended until further notice.
According to Opeifa, some technical staff of the NRC and Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) among other are on ground on the site of the train accident which left six people injured.
He also debunked claims thatn most of the trains used by the corporation across the country are in terrible condition.
Opeifa also mentioned that the refund for ticket fees of passengers affected in the Tuesday train derailment incident has been initiated.
While receiving some of the affected passenger at the Idu train station in Abuja, Opeifa said the total number of passengers onboard the derailed trains as at the time of the incident is yet to be ascertained.
