Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has raised concerns over the biting hardship and poverty in the country.
Kwankwaso in a post on X said the NNPP, its leadership and members are not satisfied with the current situation and the barrage of challenges faced by Nigerians across the country.
The former governor’s post comes hours after his party held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, in Abuja.
According to Kwankwaso, he used the opportunity to express his appreciation to members of the NNPP for their efforts to propel the party forward.
He also congratulated the members over the success recorded in the recent party elections.
“In the same vein, I expressed confidence that the people in this country have made a decision on what to do in 2027. And that is why we are so happy with ourselves, because we are with the people, and the people actually know we are with them.
“One thing is ultimately clear, we are not satisfied with many aspects of life across the country, particularly the issue of poverty. Poverty is everywhere in this country. Many communities are unable to visit the farm now. Some cannot go to the market, while some cannot even return home,” Kwankwaso wrote.
On possible political alignment and realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, the former governor said he cautioned members of the party against distractions by the defections and sundry talks among other politicians.
“We are comfortable in the NNPP, and believe that we have something to offer at the highest leadership level of this country.
“We are ready to talk to anybody, but any negotiation will be collective,” he added.
