Barr. Festus Ogun, a Lagos-based lawyer, has sued Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, for blocking him on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ogun said the governor’s action, which has lasted for about three years, violates his constitutional right to freedom of expression.
He filed the suit in August 2025 at the federal high court, seeking an order to compel Sanwo-Olu to unblock him and tender a public apology.
Ogun said the incident caused him stress and emotional trauma, but noted that he deliberately avoided seeking monetary damages.
“My only request is simple: just unblock me,” he said.
