2027: Why majority of Northerners will still vote for Tinubu – APC chieftain

Farouk Aliyu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the majority of Nigerians from the Northern part of the country will vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Aliyu said this during an interview on Arise Television on Friday.

According to Aliyu, concerns raised by many politicians and key stakeholders about the stance of the North in Tinubu’s re-election are not something to lose sleep over.

The party chieftain also dismissed threats by members of the opposition and the coalition leaders over their alignment and realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said, “The majority of the people of the north will still vote for APC. And Tinubu will be our candidate. And whether Jonathan is coming in, it’s going to be a threat to us? We respect Jonathan.

“We respect him. We respect Atiku. We respect all these Nigerian leaders. But I tell you, I have not seen anyone on the horizon that can compete with Tinubu as presently constituted,” Aliyu stated.

He further noted that elections in the country are largely determined by the people and not the political party or their leaders.

He added that while everyone might not support the president because of his style of leadership, he (Tinubu), still has a huge support base across the Northern states.
