Liverpool Football Club has completed the signing of Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in a British record deal worth £125 million.
The transfer, confirmed late on deadline day, makes Isak the most expensive player in British football history. The fee could reportedly rise to £130m with performance-related add-ons.
“Newcastle United can announce the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee,” Newcastle said in a statement on Monday night.
The Sweden international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions.
The 25-year-old underwent a medical earlier in the day before putting pen to paper on a six-year contract at Anfield. Liverpool had initially seen a £110m bid rejected in August but returned with an improved offer to finally secure their top attacking target of the summer.
