Anambra guber: No plan to step down for Labour Party’s Moghalu – ADC candidate

The Anambra governorship candidate for the African Democratic Party, John Nwosu has debunked the claim that he plans to step down for George Moghalu of the Labour Party.

Nwosu on Tuesday said that the ADC is still in the race for the 2025 governorship election in Anambra and will remain in the contest until the end.

In a statement released by Bonny Okoye, the Director General of his campaign council, Nwosu noted that Moghalu had recently visited him at his country home in Nnewi, Anambra state to discuss the forthcoming election.

Recall that Moghalu, also an indigene of Nnewi had earlier suggested that he would meet with Nwosu to harmonise their position ahead of the poll.

However, Nwosu, after their meeting said, he would not be stepping down for anyone.

Okoye said, “On Saturday, 30th August, upon his request, the Labour Party candidate Chief George Moghalu visited the ADC candidate Mr John Chuma Nwosu at his country home.

“Both candidates discussed an array of issues relating to the 8th November Anambra governorship election. They shared the view of the urgent need to replace the incumbent ruling administration in Anambra State,” Okoye stated.

He added that Nwodu made it clear to his fellow contender in the Anambra guber race that he was in the contest until the end.

“He was of the view that Anambra voters should decide who they want as governor. Accordingly, the issue of any candidate stepping down for the other was completely off the table.

“I wish to reiterate, hereby, that ADC will remain in the governorship race until the very end,” he added.
