Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has reacted to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s recent remark that Nigerian politics is filled with “betrayers, liars, and traitors.”
Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the Senate, urged young Nigerians aspiring to join politics to take a lesson from Jonathan’s experience.
Jonathan, speaking in Benin City during the 70th birthday celebration of former Chief of Staff, Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe, said he was betrayed in 2015 while seeking re-election, adding that “politics in the country’s standard is about betrayals.”
Weighing in on the comment, Sani wrote on X, “GEJ just said that Nigerian politics is full of betrayers, liars and traitors.
“I hope young people aspiring to join politics are listening to him and learning from his experience.”
Jonathan, who is widely believed to still command significant influence, is being tipped by some political observers as a potential Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2027 presidential election.
