Police begins probe as FCT residents find man’s decomposing body at NASS

The Nigeria Police Force on Monday, announced that it has launched an investigation into the decomposing body of a man discovered at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory command said the decomposing body of the yet-to-be-identified man has since been deposited in the morgue in Asokoro General Hospital.

Recall that a man was found dead his body decomposing at the complex of the National Assembly in Abuja.

Sources said the cause of the man’s death is yet to be ascertained.

According to Adeh, the command had received a distress call on September 7, 2025, at about 9 am following the discovery of the body.

Adeh said the deceased, suspected to be a labourer was found at a construction site within the NASS complex.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), National Assembly Division, immediately responded to the call and, upon arrival, discovered the deceased inside a red Peugeot 406 motor vehicle with registration number BWR-577 BF.

“The body was promptly evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that it was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” Adeh stated.

She added that CP Ajao Olawale, the FCT Commissioner of Police, has ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

The CP also directed that all efforts be intensified to establish the identity of the deceased.
