Gunmen have reportedly abducted an army officer, identified as Lt Colonel Josiah, from his lodge in Bomadi, Delta State.
The officer was said to have been kidnapped in the early hours of Sunday, shortly after attending a marriage ceremony at Kpakiama community, a neighbouring town to Bomadi, the headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area.
Sources told newsmen that the armed men stormed the lodge between 2 am and 2:30 am, ransacked several rooms, seized the phones of lodgers, and whisked the officer away in a waiting vehicle.
“The kidnappers arrived around 2 am. They searched every room, collected phones, and dragged the military officer outside. They even fired a shot before leaving with him in their vehicle.
“Blood was seen on the ground after they left,” one eyewitness recounted.
The abduction has thrown Bomadi into panic, prompting soldiers from the Joint Task Force (JTF), Bomadi Division, to intensify patrols in the area and nearby communities.
It was further gathered that the vehicle used by the kidnappers was later discovered abandoned in Tuomo community along the Tuomo-Ogbobagbene-Tamigbe-Torugbene-Ojobo road.
The vehicle has since been recovered and taken to the JTF base at Bomadi-Overside.
