Stop playing victim, face EFCC over project fraud – Ohanaeze youths to Sujimoto boss

The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has called on the Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, Olasijibomi Ogundele, to face a probe by EFCC.

Ogundele, popularly known as Sujimoto, was recently declared wanted by the EFCC over allegations of failing to deliver 22 Smart School projects awarded by the Enugu State Government, despite receiving nearly ₦6 billion.

In a statement on Wednesday, the National President of the Council, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, warned that no display of emotion would prevent the government from recovering public funds.

He hailed Governor Peter Mbah as a “game changer,” stressing that the era when contractors abandoned projects after collecting government funds was over.

“It is a clear indication that it is no longer business as usual,” Okwu said. “If you are a contractor and lack capacity, why accept a project? After being paid, you have turned into a crybaby, thinking it will sway public opinion in your favour.”

Describing the situation as sabotage, Okwu noted that all the Smart School projects under Sujimoto’s contract remained at the foundation level despite substantial payment already made.

He urged Governor Mbah not to relent in ensuring every kobo was recovered, while advising Ogundele to submit himself to the EFCC and “avoid unnecessary drama.”
