
World record holder Tobi Amusan secured silver in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday.
Amusan clocked a blazing 12.29 seconds, finishing just behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who set a new national record to claim gold. Her medal marks Nigeria’s first at the ongoing championships.
The Nigerian sprint star, who set the world record of 12.12 seconds in 2022, has been a dominant force in the hurdles over the past three years.
The United States’ Grace Stark claimed bronze in 12.34 seconds, while compatriot Masai Russell narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in 12.44 seconds.
Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska and the Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton both recorded season’s bests of 12.49 seconds to share fifth place. Jamaica’s Danielle Williams came seventh in 12.53 seconds, and Nadine Visser of the Netherlands placed eighth in 12.56 seconds.
