Rhodes-Vivour Accuses Police of Colluding With APC to Disrupt Gathering at Venue He Paid For

The 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has accused the Nigeria Police of shielding and supervising the All Progressives Congress (APC) to hold a rally at a venue he claimed to have paid for.

Rhodes-Vivour made the allegation on Monday while appearing as a guest in an interview.

He demanded an explanation from the Commissioner of Police over the incident.

“That would be a fantastic question to ask the Commissioner of Police because I have raised this issue before. We obtained approval from the police, received the letter, and made the necessary payments, yet they allowed the venue to be taken over.

“The government must begin to explain these actions because our responsibility is simply to notify them, while theirs is to protect citizens, not to dictate who can do what, when, and how.

“That contravenes our constitution and the democratic process we are supposed to be practising.

“The police also need to explain how they escorted thugs into a church, allowed them to violently disrupt a gathering, and stood by watching it all unfold,” he said.
