Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President, has stated that President Bola Tinubu undermined democracy by suspending the Governor of Rivers State, Simi Fubara, and members of the state House of Assembly.
In a post on X on Thursday, Atiku said lifting the suspension is not worth celebrating.
He argued that the action taken six months ago was unconstitutional and remains illegal.
His words: “The suspension of the Rivers state governor and the state house of assembly was unconstitutional when it was done six months ago and is still illegal today.
“President Tinubu had no power to suspend a democratically elected governor and state lawmakers. The Rivers shenanigans only signpost the dictatorship of the Tinubu administration.”
President Tinubu reversed the suspension yesterday after the suspension of Fubara and the lawmakers for six months.
