The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has launched a statewide membership drive in Gombe as part of efforts to boost its political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative was flagged off on Friday evening during the inauguration of the State Transition and Membership Drive Committee.
Speaking at the event, the Gombe ADC Chairman, Auwal Barde, said the party is ready to bring real development to the state and called on residents to join the movement for a better Nigeria.
Former Minister of Transportation, Abdullahi Umar, dismissed claims of division in the party. He said the ADC is united and working together, adding that past issues were resolved in 2024, with Barde confirmed as chairman by the national leadership.
Umar also added that the party’s goal is to register 500,000 new members across the state and urged people to take part in the ongoing voter registration to get their PVCs.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Membership Drive Committee, John Yoriyo, assured that beyond ADC membership recruitment, the committee would actively promote voter registration and PVC collection among citizens.
The ADC says this is part of a broader strategy to strengthen its electoral presence and deepen democracy in Gombe State.
