Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the release of N596.6 million as car and housing loans to 807 teaching and non-teaching staff of public secondary schools in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission, Michael Boluwade, who disclosed this in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, said the gesture was aimed at enhancing workers’ welfare and boosting morale in the education sector.
According to him, N381.5 million will go to 382 beneficiaries as car loans, while N215.1 million has been earmarked as a fresh tranche of housing loans for 425 workers.
He added that the disbursement was in line with the 100 per cent increase earlier approved by the governor.
Boluwade thanked the governor for providing additional funds to complement the commission’s revolving loan scheme and urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds for the intended purposes, stressing that repayment would be deducted directly from salaries.
Oyebanji, during the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration, had listed similar initiatives, including N400 million disbursed as loans to over 1,400 staff, the recruitment of nearly 2,500 teachers, and the implementation of minimum wage, as part of his administration’s efforts to improve workers’ welfare.
