Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has met with key northern politicians ahead of the 2027 general election.

The meeting took place at his Abuja residence and was described as “a crucial meeting” with Adamawa African Democratic Congress (ADC) stakeholders.

Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, made the announcement through his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday night, October 11.

He shared photos from the meeting and revealed that the stakeholders had resolved to work together to “rescue Nigeria.”

The meeting had in attendance former Adamawa State Governor Bindow Jibrilla, ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal, and Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, popularly known as Binani.

Former Senator Elisha Abbo, who represented Adamawa North, was also present at the meeting, alongside other prominent figures from the state.

Atiku wrote on X: “I just concluded a crucial meeting with Adamawa ADC stakeholders, at which they resolved to stand united as one indivisible entity that will join hands with the rest of the party to rescue Nigeria.”

It could be recalled that in August, Atiku met with several PDP and Labour Party chieftains in Abuja, where discussions also centered on possible coalition strategies to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. That led to the emergence of the ADC as the coalition platform.
