Tinubu has sidelined people who helped him succeed – Ndume

The Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume has said that President Bola Tinubu has sidelined most of those who helped him succeed as governor of Lagos State.
Ndume, who appeared as a guest on Arise Television’s Prime Time Programme said the president used to have good people around him.
Stating that this has changed, he warned that Tinubu may be dragging himself into a ditch from which he might not be able to get out.
According to the lawmaker, most of the people currently surrounding the president politically and otherwise, know nothing about his past struggles and successes.
His words, “The president had good people around him when he was the governor of Lagos; that was why he succeeded.”
“Most of the good people are not there, they have been sidelined. And he just picked people who don’t know anybody.
“They only know Ikoyi and Victoria Island, and from there they fly to London or America, where their families are living. So they are not even full Nigerians. These people don’t know politics,” Ndume said.
Also, nothing that Tinubu, as an individual, understands Nigerian politics and the need for inclusivity and having the right people in his circle, Ndume said. The president, in the past, supported northern candidates, but that seems to have changed.
“The first candidate he supported was from the north, but it didn’t work, the second candidate was from the north, but that also didn’t work, the third one was the one that worked.
“And even the third one (Late Muhammadu Buhari) did not work, may his soul rest in peace. So now he said it’s my turn.
“And now, instead of bringing his team that would look him in the face and tell him the truth, he decided to surround himself with people who do not know politics,” the lawmaker noted.
