Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State have kicked against plans by Governor Agbu Kefas to join the ruling party.

They described the development as totally unacceptable and warned that the party must not accommodate him.

Addressing journalists in Jalingo, the APC youths said they would not support any attempt to bring the governor into the APC.

According to them, Governor Kefas does not share the progressive ideals of the party.

We, the youths of APC in Taraba State, unanimously reject the defection of Governor Agbu Kefas into our great party. He is not a progressive leader, and APC is not a party for his calibre. Our stand is clear, we are not in support of his coming,” State Coordinator Bilyamin Musa stated.

The group accused Governor Kefas of poor governance, insisting his two years in office had not produced meaningful results for young people and the state at large. They claim his style of leadership is “out of line” with what the APC represents.

However, they also appealed to the national leadership of the APC to consider the position of youths in Taraba and protect the party from individuals they believe may weaken its structure in the state.

While reaffirming loyalty to the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the group promised to continue mobilizing young people to strengthen the party’s structure and success in future elections.

On the other hand, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legal Matters, Barr. Sani Marke, backed the governor’s decision. He recently praised the move as strategic and beneficial to the state, calling it “an act of statesmanship and political foresight.”

He argued that Governor Kefas’s plan to “align with the centre” would open more opportunities for Taraba and ensure the state receives federal support for development.

The adviser also commended key APC figures in the state and region for welcoming the governor, saying their role reflects maturity and unity.
