Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has declared that nothing will stand in the way of his bid for a second term in office.

The governor boasted that he has earned enough goodwill and support from Osun residents to secure victory again in the 2026 governorship election.

Adeleke made the remarks in Abuja after appearing before the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gubernatorial Screening Committee on Thursday.

He maintained that his performance since assuming office in 2022 has placed him in a strong position ahead of next year’s poll.

Speaking confidently about his chances, the governor reminded reporters that he defeated a sitting governor in the last election and remains more prepared this time.

I am so confident that I am going to win. If I can defeat an incumbent and now that I am the governor, within two years, it’s unprecedented what we have done in less than two years. Man, I’m so confident that nobody can be us there,” he said.

He waved aside fears that the All Progressives Congress (APC) could use federal influence to dislodge him, stressing that his popularity cuts across party lines.

According to him, even APC members in Osun openly admire him and his governance style. “Just take APC as a case study, anytime they are having a party or an event, I will go there and I will take over, they all love me,” he said.

Adeleke recalled that he triumphed in 2022 despite what he described as overwhelming federal backing for his opponent. “There was federal might when I defeated the APC candidate in 2022. I saw the equipment, I saw the resources… that same federal might,” he stated.

He also expressed trust that President Bola Tinubu will allow a fair contest when Osun goes to the polls. “I don’t think President Tinubu will want to do anything that will mess up his administration because my election will come before the presidential election. So, I’m sure everything will be free and fair, and that is what we are talking about,” Adeleke noted.

Chairman of the PDP screening committee, Hon. Adebayo Adepoju, confirmed that the governor satisfied all requirements and defended his credentials properly before the panel.

This comes months after Governor Adeleke repeatedly assured party loyalists that his administration’s projects and reforms will “speak for him” ahead of the 2026 race.
