Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has criticised the Department of State Services (DSS) following the dismissal of 115 of its personnel, describing the agency as a symbol of incompetence.
Yesufu made the remarks in a post on her verified X account on Wednesday.
“If incompetence needed an organisation to describe it, this DSS would fit aptly,” she wrote.
Her comments came shortly after the DSS announced the dismissal of 115 officers as part of ongoing internal reforms, citing various acts of misconduct as the reason for their termination.
In a statement released on Tuesday via its official X handle, the agency warned Nigerians to be cautious of some of the dismissed personnel who may still be presenting themselves as serving operatives.
“The Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement read. “Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealings with these individuals.”
The DSS added that the names of the dismissed personnel have been published on its official website for public verification.
