American rapper, Nicki Minaj is set to speak at a United Nations event in New York on Tuesday, where she is expected to draw global attention to what she describes as growing attacks on Christians in Nigeria.
The artiste, known legally as Onika Maraj-Petty, will appear alongside U.S. officials who have repeatedly raised concerns about faith-based violence in the country.
Nicki Minaj is joining U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Michael Waltz, and Alex Bruesewitz, a key adviser to President Donald Trump.
The event is being framed as a platform to spotlight alleged jihadist violence targeting Christian communities.
The development came to light after a senior political correspondent in the U.S. disclosed the planned meeting on social media.
Ambassador Waltz later confirmed it and praised Minaj for what he called her courage and willingness to “speak out against injustice,” noting that few celebrities have used their influence to address the issue so publicly.
Minaj responded with gratitude, saying the invitation was an honour and insisting she would “never stand down in the face of injustice.”
She stressed that using her voice on matters of human rights was a responsibility she does not take lightly.
Her engagement follows recent comments by Trump, who claimed Nigeria is witnessing a “Christian genocide” and announced plans to classify the country as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
He also urged U.S. lawmakers to respond swiftly. Minaj publicly applauded his comments and said it was important for global leaders to acknowledge the situation.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has consistently dismissed accusations of religious persecution, insisting that insecurity in the country is driven by criminal, economic, and political factors rather than faith-based motives.
Despite this position, U.S. officials have continued to spotlight the issue on the global stage.
Good move
Welcome development
Good move
It is not alleged.
It is a fact.
Northern Christians are being massacred like fowls without restraint and without any defensive measures against their afflictors, by their highly placed individuals who are more of a pawn anyways.
The Nigerian Government can’t claim ignorance of the killings, denying it means they’re accomplice to it.
They intentionally don’t allow the Media to report it.
The Government should spend the energy used in denying it, to look for a lasting solution to stop the killings.
It’s a welcome development, but don’t forget to add the one happening in all regions including south East
I think aunty onika maraj petty is having a great concern about the persecution Christian’s are facing in Nigeria, the problem is that the Muslim jihadists that have a single pity for Christian’s in Nigeria, they don’t want to hear you propagate the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,if you preach the gospel where you are a prey in the northern geo-political zones in Nigeria,we will be killed, what the Muslim jihadists want is that every body in Nigeria should be Muslim, they want to islamise Nigeria, even me in person,I use to live in Lagos State, but because I repented and gave my life to Christ, after many years of being born again, the promises of God started manifest, the Muslims became jealous, and they started fight me everywhere in Lagos State,I was not enjoying peace,I was afraid to continue exist in Lagos State,it was as if I might loose my life, but because I don’t have a past evil record in Lagos State or Nigeria, they could not find anything am guilty about in the past,so I could be there victim,I had to leave Lagos State to my village in abavo, today am enjoying peace in ika-land, what I need the UN to do is to help us disintegrate Nigeria,my new country now is republic of niger-delta, because the Muslims jihadists are ready to fight anybody till they all stop existing on Earth, because they hate Jesus, the followers of Jesus and the doctrine of God.
