A former Senate President, Bukola Saraki has called on the Nigerian government and all security agencies to work together to ensure adequate security for Kwara State, especially Eruku town.
Sarki’s call comes barely hours after the attack on a CAC church in Eruku town by some terrorists on Tuesday, November 18.
The terrorists who were captured in the church’s livestream had invaded the worship centre during service, killing two people and abducting several others.
In a statement released on Wednesday, November 19, the former governor of Kwara state said he received the news of the terrorist attack in Eruku with sadness.
He added that, the incident which he described as terrible is also disturbing.
Saraki’s words, “Yesterday, I received the sad news of the terrorist attack on Eruku town in my home State, Kwara. In the terrible incident, some residents were injured while some others were kidnapped.
“It is a seriously disturbing news which has disrupted the usually serene and peaceful atmosphere of the town located in the southern part of our dear state,” Saraki stated.
Consoling with the families of those who lost their loved ones in the terrorists attack, the former lawmaker called for immediate efforts towards rescuing those who were abducted.
“I sympathise with all the victims and their relatives. I pray for Allah’s healing, restoration and strength at this difficult time.
“I call on the Federal government, particularly the heads of our security agencies to urgently act to ensure that the kidnapped victims of this sad incident regain their freedom and return home safely to their loved ones. I also enjoin the security agencies to put a solid arrangement in place that will secure Eruku town, in particular, and all parts of Kwara State.
“The state is one of the gateways into the country and a link between the southern and northern parts. This makes it deserving of a special security arrangement that will not jeopardise our national interest and internal peace.
“May Allah (SWT) heal our land and help us defeat all those waging wars against Nigeria,” Saraki wrote on X.
