Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, wife of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has strongly denounced his life imprisonment as “illegal, biased, and a miscarriage of justice.”

She claimed that Justice James Omotosho ignored the constitution, made up evidence, and shut out fair legal process.

In a public statement, she accused the judge of using a law that no longer exists to prosecute her husband.

“The old Terrorism Act of 2013 has been repealed,” she said. “He forced Kanu to plead under a dead law. That is void.”

She alleged the judge added allegations that were never in the court record.

According to her, “he claimed Kanu planned to bomb the British and US embassies … This is pure fiction. No witness ever said that.”

She argued that the judge “invented evidence” and used “facts not presented in court.”

Mrs. Kanu also raised serious questions about jurisdiction, noting that some of the charges concerned acts allegedly committed in Kenya.

She said the court failed to verify whether Kenya even treated those acts as crimes, or whether there was any Kenyan evidence to support the case.

She concluded her statement by rejecting the ruling outright: “He didn’t follow the Constitution … He used a dead law … He invented evidence … The judgment is illegal … It will not survive appeal.”

Nnamdi Kanu was found guilty on terrorism-related charges and given life in prison.

Justice Omotosho also handed him 20 years and 5 years for other offenses. The court declined the death penalty, citing international concerns over capital punishment.

His conviction has sparked both national and global attention. Critics have raised alarm about political meddling.

Some believe his sit-at-home directive, which the court tied to violence, was unfairly linked to high-profile killings.

In his ruling, the judge described Kanu as “arrogant, cocky, and full of himself,” warning that his rhetoric posed a real danger to public peace.

In a related development, Kanu’s legal team announced they will appeal the verdict.
