Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for including him among the 32 newly nominated ambassador-designates.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Sunday, Fani-Kayode described the nomination as a “great honour.”

He wrote: “I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (@officialABAT) for nominating me to be an Ambassador of our great country, Nigeria. This is indeed a great honour for which I give God the glory. Thanks be to God.”

Politics Nigeria earlier reported that the President forwarded a list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, following an earlier batch of three nominees.

The list includes Fani-Kayode, former INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, former presidential aide Reno Omokri, and former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, among others.

The Presidency, in a statement issued by spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, said the nominees are being considered for both career and non-career ambassadorial positions.

It noted that the list includes four women among the career ambassadors and six women among the non-career ambassadors.

The statement added that the nominations are still subject to Senate screening and confirmation before any diplomatic postings are officially announced.
